Vale Sue Beecher

May 6, 2020

Kids First is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Sue Beecher, philanthropist, Kids First Board member and wonderful human. Our thoughts and condolences are especially with Sue’s husband Eric, their children Kate, Joanna, Tom and Sophie, and the entire Beecher family.

While she joined the Kids First Board just last year, Sue had a long affinity with our organisation. She completed her social work degree at the University of Melbourne alongside our CEO, Aileen Ashford, and Sue’s first social work role was with the Children’s Protection Society – now Kids First.

Sue’s passion for people and community saw her drive a social justice agenda across many spheres. She worked as philanthropy services manager at Perpetual Limited, senior advisor at Wendy Brooks and partners and philanthropy manager at the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) National Voice for our Children. Sue was an active member of Human Rights Watch.

Sue leaves an incredible legacy of social work and philanthropy and we plan to honour her memory through the establishment of a Sue Beecher leadership award. We will share the details of the award with in the near future.
